Shelf Sitter
What is proper etiquette for having close friends/family as house-sitters? (Canadian)?
So we budgeted for a 2 week trip, taking into account that my sister was going to house-sit for free. Now she can’t, and we’re wondering what proper etiquette for this situation is.
Week 1 – my wife’s sister. She’s 23, and hasn’t house-sat much. (Plus she lived in this house before I did.)
Week 2 – my sister’s good friend. She’s 30. She’s done much house-sitting.
We’re planning on stocking the shelves before we leave.
Should we be paying these ladies? If so, how much would you offer?
Should we expect them to sleep in the guest room?
Anything unexpected we should prepare for?

Week 2- my WIFE’s good friend.
We don’t have any kids.
I wouldn’t pay them, but show your thanks by giving them a nice gift certificate. Just to make sure what your sister’s friend who has done this before might expect, I would have your sister find out what the situation has been in the past.
The guest room is fine, just leave clean sheet for week 2.
